A new study reveals that the iPad is dominating the web traffic originating from tablets. The study was conducted by digital publishing tool developer Onswipe. According to them, the iPad represents 98.1 percent of the 29.5 million unique impressions on more than 1200 sites. This was for the perioud September 13 to September 20.
Following the iPad is the Samsung Galaxy Tab with 1.53 percent of the tablet-based traffic, Motorola Xoom with 0.21 percent, Amazon Kindle Fire with 0.11 percent and Asus tablet with 0.6 percent.
Onswipe CEO Jason Baptiste in explaining to AppleInsider said that his company is able to track device and engagement data using the Onswipe platform. Hence, the results of the study are fairly accurate. He also said that the iPad is clearly a browsing device.
The study also found out that iPad users spend 56.9 percent more time per web surfing session than iPhone owners. The total mobile web traffic of the iPad amounting to 54.9 percent is also more than double than that of the iPhone with only 19.05 percent.
