Soon, members of the Dutch Senate or upper house of parliament won’t be bringing with them bulk of printed documents when attending Senate sessions. The Dutch Senators were told that starting from the Senate’s next session, they will have to stop printing files and learn how to use one magical device – the iPad.
Apple maybe right in saying that their iPad is beginning to show up everywhere. If there’s one indication of this statement, it has to be this one. A full Senate house utilizing iPad in their regular sessions. Isn’t that cool?
With this, the Dutch Senate becomes the first in Europe to utilize such digital documents on iPad doing their official duties and responsibiities. And guess what? The 75 senators were more than pleased with their “official” tool. According to Geert Jan Hamilton, Secretary General of the Senate:
“We have had enormous piles of paper couriered to our houses every week, thick envelopes with planning and committee meeting documents, but now from 6 pm every Friday you just open the Senate app and find all the documents for the next week.”
Although each of the 75 senators will be given their own iPads to use, printing of official documents will still be allowed – occassionally until all the senators get accustomed into using the iPads.
Now, makes me wonder – will these senators be using the 64GB iPad 2 models? Black or White?
